In the course we will cover many techniques of the masters. We’ll examine works of art in the museum galleries and explore a variety of media and the practice of working on underpainting with verdaccio and glazing (the original technique used for underpainting, color layering and glazing). Alla prima means “at once” and involves a direct, expressive style, developed later in the history of oil painting. We will produce works using each of these very different approaches. A great place for the beginning to the seasoned artist to strengthen skills and learn new techniques. Supplies: list provided at the time of registration. Complete a painting employing tonal studies, values, color mixing and glazing. Supply list provided at registration.
